Ana Roš is one of the world’s most profiled female chefs. Together with her husband, Valter Kramar, who is a sommelier, she runs the award-winning restaurant Hiša Franko. Located in the Slovenian mountain village of Kobarid on the border of Italy, this modern eatery with roots in local traditions is worth a trip alone to Slovenia. The restaurant is currently no. 48 on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants-list and was also dedicated an episode of its own in the wildly popular Netflix series Chef’s Table.
